5 Reasons Why You Should Study EV Tech

After several tries and retries, electric vehicles have finally penetrated into the automobiles market and are here to stay! From Tesla to our very own Indian company, Ather Energy, EVs are already becoming popular with the masses and are becoming more and more affordable as well. Here are 5 reasons why you should hop onto this trend and study about EV Technology!

1. The future is electric
We’re entering a new era - the age of electric vehicles. This means that the infrastructure to build and manufacture EVs is going to drastically increase! Driving an electric car will become the norm for many in the coming years and governments and energy companies are setting big goals to help that happen.

The German government is actively looking at a complete move from diesel and gasoline to electric vehicles soon. By 2040, France and the UK plan to ban all sales of petrol and diesel cars. Even India is planning to achieve 30% market penetration of EVs by 2030. There’s going to be a huge demand for EV Engineers!

2. Government Incentives

The Government of India has announced its plan to support 15.62 lakh electric vehicles through subsidies. The phase-II of Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles in India (FAME India) scheme is being implemented with total budgetary support of ₹ 10,000 crore. With this, the government plans to support about 62,000 electric passenger cars and buses, and 15 lakh electric three- and two-wheelers in India. More production, more scope, more jobs!

3. Make the world a better place
There’s no doubt that Electric Vehicles could help reverse damage or at least stop further damage to the planet. Cities around the world are battling the effects of pollution from emission vehicles and India is no exception. Given the climate challenges that the world is facing now, there will be a time when parts of the country, especially big cities, will have zero-emission zones. EVs have zero emission and thus by contributing to their production, you can contribute to a better future!

4. High on Tech, Low on Maintenance
Making an EV is radically different from making a vehicle with an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE). A lot of components in an ICE vehicle are unnecessary in an EV. EVs are also inherently more reliable than ICE vehicles due to fewer mechanical parts. EVs can also be technically customised to not be prone to failure and provide better data to enable more proactive maintenance. There is a lot of scope for improving on existing vehicle designs. You can create more futuristic, contemporary and different looking designs, thus bolstering creative capabilities!

5. Work with the bigwigs and earn big money

Every single existing automobile company will have a presence in the EV market in the next 10 years, and new players who foray into the market are increasing by the day. We are already in the middle of the EV revolution. Jaguar plans to sell only electric cars from 2025, Volvoand Ford from 2030, General Motors by 2035. The big players of the market all want a piece of the EV industry, and this translates into well-paying jobs for skilled technicians.

There you go! There is no doubt that you will grow exponentially as a professional with a career in the EV industry.
